Primal Spirits Against Fake Druids: Greenwood

Not played yet: this article is based on announcements and the sources listed below. We'll review the games once they've been on our table.

Officially, the peninsula of Greenwood is a sanctuary for magical animals and a vacation paradise, run by a circle of druids. In reality, that’s a lie. In Greenwood you play Primal Spirits who free the peninsula with the help of their companions.

The facts

  • 1–4 players, about 40 minutes per player, ages 14+
  • Designers: Christos Giannakoulas and Manolis Zachariadis, art by Maurice Mosqua and Martin Mottet
  • Publisher: Capstone Games internationally (pre-order $99.99), Feuerland Spiele in German (BlackLabel line)
  • Release in Q4 2026

How it plays

Every turn you face the same question: do I use the ability of one of my own companions? One of another player’s companions? Or do I send one into the forest to improve my wayfinding and rescue magical creatures? Rescued creatures board your Deep Ship and grant bonuses.

In the advanced game each clan has its own special rule, and everyone can use the rules of every clan in play. The game lasts three nights, and the player with the most points wins.

At SPIEL Essen 2026

Feuerland is showing Greenwood in Hall 3, booth 3Q300 and selling it there in German and English. Demo tables can’t be reserved: just ask when one is free.

Our take

We haven’t played it yet. We know Feuerland as the publisher of Ark Nova, and the BlackLabel line stands for the heavier stuff. Being able to use other players’ abilities promises lots of interaction without anyone taking things away from each other.
